About the SHOW
"ExploWare
Beta 0.0" is an animated remix by artist David Hanes made in the same
vein as his âAwareâ series
http://thxinternetthx.tumblr.com/ in which
online images of gallery documentation become the source material for
digital manipulations. Hanes revises these representations of cultural
objects in anonymous spaces using Photoshop. This version exposes some
of his aesthetic influences, as well as his process. The result is a
tension between abstraction and representation, an emptied showroom and a
 bleached-out artwork.
David Hanes, born in 1987 in Toronto, is an
artist, curator, and DJ whose expanded sculptural practice examines the
architecture of the Internet and the experience of art in the digital
age. Exhibiting in both offline and online communities, David
lives/works in Berlin, Germany. He is represented by Birch Contemporary
http://www.birchcontemporary.com/ Toronto.

Due
to our needs that seem to be increasingly handheld, WAG was born on
2009! The Widget Art Gallery is a mini single art gallery room fitting
into people's pocket. Every month, the WAG hosts a solo digital art
exhibition related to its dynamic site-specific context. So the WAG
works both as a sort of kunsthall showing temporary exhibitions and also
as museum conserving all the past shows inside an online archive that
creates a permanent collection.
